Canada is in the midst of undergoing a copyright reform process which will align itself with international copyright standards. Speculation that Canada is going to institute some form of the DMCA (Digital Millennium Copyright Act) has been a topic of frequent forum discussion but recently a letter has surfaced which indicates that Canadian copyright reform would bring Canada closer to “conformity with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO)“. The news comes just shortly after reports of the Copyright Reform bill coming within the coming “weeks”.

This obviously means that it will be easier in the future for trademark owners to pursue Canadian domain owners who infringed on trademark law. (more…)

MoldData, the .md registry in Moldova, informed DomainNews that they launched a new service called “.MD via SMS” together with Moldcell, the local cell phone carrier. This service is only available to Moldcell customers however.
